There are still a lot of misconceptions about veganism in the general population and, as a vegan, I encounter people every single day who have a lot of questions about my plant-based life. Oftentimes people simply don’t know where to start, or what foods to eat to have a balanced diet and believe that vegan food has to be boring and flavourless.
VECON, a fictional vegan food festival in Melbourne, Australia, showcases diverse plant-based cuisines from around the world. It aims to dispel skepticism towards vegan alternatives and offers a taste of veganized dishes from Japan, China, Korea, Colombia, Italy, and France. All are welcome to explore a healthy, balanced vegan lifestyle!
For this fictional event I created a print publication, meant as a guide while attending the festival, and a website with the purpose of enticing people to attend it and to give them an overview of all events.
With the booklet in hand, visitors can walk around the festival grounds and explore everything it has to offer. It allows visitors to always look at the festival map on their left-hand side while simultaneously flipping through all the other festival sections of the booklet to help with the navigation to events that interest them.
When designing this project’s parts, it was important to remember, how and where people will interact with all the different types of media and how these can be utilized to enhance the user experience. The booklet is meant as a companion during the event but to prevent visitors from throwing it away after the event was over, and therefore resulting in a lot of trash, I wanted them to create memories with it that last.
